Photographic print Felice Gimondi Rudi Altig 1968
In the 1960s, when fall came, professional road racers turned to the velodromes to earn a bit extra in six day races. Contracts were not as comfortable as nowadays and even the great champions were happy for the opportunity to gain some prize money on wooden planks.
On this picture you can see a slingshot change during the Madison competition. It shows two of the great riders of their time, Rudi Altig and Felice Gimondi of the Salvarani team.
The picture was taken at the 1968 sixday race in Milan, where Gimondi and Rudi Altig eventually second.
It has been a long year for both of them, which started with a Milan-San Remo victory of Rudi Altig and had its highlight in Gimondi's overall triumph at the Vuelta.
The print is an original from the press service of one of Italy's most important journalistic photo-agencies, Milan's Olympia.
Size is 32x24 cm.
