Peugeot Bicyclette Road Bike 1890s
- Manufacturer: Peugeot
- Size: 61 cm
Coming from a long manufacturing tradition, Peugeot started to build and sell bicycles in the 1880s.
What started with making salt and pepper mills turned to transportation by building 'penny-farthings'. It was a time when a cascade of innovations trickled down from engineer inventors to the manufactures and the mass markets.
10 years later, in the 1990s, Peugeot already had made itself a name in the bicycle business and made safety bicycles instead of the outdated high wheeler. And by 1896 the safety was followed by the modern diamond frames.
The short but massive impact that the safety bike had on the development of a cycling community was extraordinary and unseen.
Thus our Bicyclette Peugeot is representing the ultimate breakethrough in bicycle design.
This rare piece comes with inch pitch drive train, pneumatic tires and the typical handlebar. It does not have the front brake and in the rear a freewheel is attached. »See Details
