Alois Imholz grew up in a bygone era.
He was born in Switzerland at the end of the 19th century. In many aspects that meant leading a life which was different from the one young men are leading today. But in two aspects it was just alike.
The questions: What is my passion and how do I earn my money are both timeless to young people around the globe.
An answer regarding the passion was given early in Alois' life and the one regarding a living was answered shortly after.
As a boy, Alois was lucky to inherit a bicycle which had been passed down from one brother to the next (His oldest brother was already racing bikes back then). Ever since he started riding, the two wheels should prove to become his destiny. Not only did he start road racing at a young age he was also doing well in competition.
Imholz was happy when he could quit school early to start an apprenticeship at a machinery and car factory. But more and more of his time was consumed by repairing bikes for fellow riders and building them made-to-measure frames. In fact his frames became so popular that he had to quit his job at the factory and eventually started his own business, together with his brother.
Through all the following decades, bike racing and bike building were the two pillars of Imholz' everyday life.
From turning the workshop into a proper company, to equipping Tour de Suisse teams, his two-wheeled passion became a great success and his name a well-known brand.
You can tell by the very classic paint scheme on our Imholz Swiss Road Bike from 1979 that Alois had been in business for many decades already, when this machine was varnished. The paint scheme is reminiscent of an era that had long passed.
The frame from Reynolds 531 steel is timeless though. And the parts were very recent top notch components in 1979.
This Imholz is a bike with lots of character and a great bike for all kinds of riding. From everyday jaunts to long weekend tours or Eroica rides - a bike that runs like a (swiss) clockwork. »See Details
Used. The bike is in good working condition. The frame has no dents, no cracks and is not bent. Paintwork and decals are original. Some scratches but generally nice. All parts have been checked and are working fine.
