In 1983, Fontana went into business as a small bicycle company with a focus on high end modern bikes. Their origins are close to the Northern Italian city of Verona, and it is also the place where they are offering their service to this day.
Their mindset regarding modern materials can we witnessed in the design of our Fontana Classic Mountain Bike from 1989.
It was the time when Aluminium started to displace steel as the go-for material in the production of high class offroad frames.
Consequently, our Fontana is made with an interesting Aluminium frame and accompanied by the then typical CrMo unicrown fork.
As for the parts nothing less than a complete Campagnolo setup was chosen. It is the Campagnolo Centaur groupset including a U-brake and a set of Campagnolo Record-OR shifters which is installed. And Campagnolo's Kappa Mountainbike rims are there, too! The wheelset is rounded up to perfection by Panaracer Smoke tires.
The bike has been completely serviced and is ready for a second life under the pedal strokes of a vintage Mountainbike fan.
"I took the road less traveled, and that made all the difference" - Robert Frost, Mountain Bike Pioneer in oblivion.
Used. The bike is in good condition. The frame has no dents, no cracks and is not bent. Paintwork and decals are original. All parts have been thoroughly checked and are working fine.
