Edi Strobl Linea Corsa Rare 50th Anniversary Bike 1980s
- Manufacturer: Edi Strobl
- Size: 54 cm
When Edi Strobl opened his bicycle Shop in Brunnthal, close to Munich in 1972, he had a clear idea of what his trade should be like: Only the best Italian bikes should be sold under his name. Soon he became the exclusive importer for brands like Bottecchia, Chesini, Pinarello and Grandis in Germany.
Besides his role as a quasi-ambassador for top quality Italian frames, he also perfected the system of personalised bikes.
He made it possible to buy a frame and have it outfitted with whatever componentry the customer's heart longed for.
The Edi Strobl Linea Corsa bikes offered models which were en-par with the most famous Italian brands and sometimes even ahead of them.
If you want to prove how high-end Edi Strobl bikes could be, our Edi Strobl Linea Corsa Rare 50th Anniversary Bike from the 1980s is the perfect example.
This would have been the absolute top model you could get in Brunnthal at that time and the bike did cost a small fortune.
The frame is made of Columbus SL tubing and sports the then still new Columbus Air rear stays. These stays are chromed as is the fork with its engraved logo. Talking about engravings - Every lug on our frame is engraved and the headlugs are chromed on top!
The rear braking cable and rear derailleur cable are both routed internally in the smoothest way. Immediately after the purchase, the new owner had the frame repainted in his favourite colour, a vibrant pearly red.
Then it was equipped with some of the finest parts money could buy:
The Campagnolo 50th anniversary groupset is considered one of the most desirable groupsets of all time. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company, Campagnolo released a first batch of 5.000 pieces.
The groupset number one went straight to Campagnolo's own museum. The number two was presented to the pope, John Paul II. In the meantime, Campagnolo began to produce more of these extremely sought-after anniversary groupsets to meet the expectations of the market. They stopped when the number of 15.000 groupsets was achieved.
And here is the very late serial number 14215, in great condition, matched to a perfectly fit frame.
But wait, there is more:
Some of the parts are refined and tuned by ICS. The Swiss company specialised in modifying and honing of Campagnolo components. Not only the shifters, also the Cinelli handlebar and stem are unblemished examples of their art.
Why are they so shiny? - The aluminium received a chrome plating! A mind-boggling effort it may seem to some people. But if only the best is good enough to turn your bike into the most precious ride of your whole state, then it is just what it takes.
Not only is our Edi Strobl one of the hottest 1980s bikes, it also is perfectly ridable. All parts are in very good condition and thoroughly checked.
If you go for the best, you want to go for this. »See Details
