  • Description:

One of the most iconic bikes which left the famous factory in Cavenago (Milan, Italy), the Colnago Mexico was produced to celebrate the 1972 Eddy Merckx world hour record. The Colnago Mexico was slightly different from the Colnago Super - built with even thinner Columbus tubes - but shared with that glorious bike

the aggressive racing geometry: short, light and very stiff!

The next step in its evolution became the Colnago Nuovo Mexico first released in 1982 and continued until the year 1984 with minor differences. It was built with profiled Columbus SL tubes which had distinctive crimps on the sides of the top and down tube.

This Colnago Mexico dates back to 83/84 and is the very last version with four crimps on the downtube (previous models had only two crimps). It has been built for a very short time before the Colnago Master was introduced in 1984.

This superb racing frame has been built into a real dream machine, when it was equipped with a Campagnolo 50th anniversary groupset.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company in 1983, Campagnolo released a first batch of 5.000 pieces of this extraordinary groupset.

The groupset number one went straight to Campagnolo's own museum. The number two was presented to the pope, John Paul II. In the meantime, Campagnolo began to produce more of these extremely sought-after anniversary groupsets to meet the expectations of the market. They stopped when the number of 15.000 groupsets was achieved.
Our groupset has the number 10506, and together with the Clement Colnago tires, the pantographed stem and the golden Ambrosio rims, completes the top notch Nuovo Mexico accurately
