Colnago Master 50th Anniversary 1983
- Manufacturer: Colnago
- Size: 56 cm
Created in 1983 and released to the public market in 1984, the Colnago Master became immediately a winning bike. Giuseppe Saronni won the Giro d'Italia on a Colnago Master of the Del Tongo team. Since then, this Italian masterpiece of cycling design has been one of the most winning bikes of all time and also one of the most sought after by riders and collectors. As a matter of fact, Colnago is still offering a version of the Master to this day.
The Colnago Master was developed as a massive improvement of the Nuovo Mexico which had been Colnago's previous top model. It was manufactured with Columbus Gilco Design - Profilo S4 tubing with a distinctive profiled diamond-shaped cross section. These tubes were designed by Gilberto Colombo to improve the stiffness and to better withstand mechanical strain. The result is a light, reactive and stiff steel frame. This Colnago Master dates back to 1984 and still got its original paintjob in Colnago del Tongo team colours.
It is equipped with the most iconic and sought after components from the 1980s, nothing less than a very early Campagnolo 50th Anniversary parts.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company, Campagnolo released a first batch of 5.000 pieces of this extraordinary groupset.
The groupset number one went straight to Campagnolo's own museum. The number two was presented to the pope, John Paul II.
In the meantime, Campagnolo began to produce more of these extremely sought-after anniversary groupsets to meet the expectations of the market. They stopped when the number of 15.000 groupsets was achieved.
Produced in such a limited number, our Campagnolo with its low serial number 38 in good condition is exceptionally collectible.
Inspected, in our workshop this Colnago Master is ready to be ridden or to enrich any serious collection.
A Colnago Master from the first series and a very early anniversary groupset. An evergreen of the cycling history.»See Details
