By the time this Benotto frame set was built, the company from Turin had already harvested heaps of medals with their bikes. Numerous world championships, national championships and one day races had been won by champions on Benotto machines.
Our specific model seems to be a very interesting custom built exemplar. You will hardly find a second one with the same characteristics concerning lugs, tubing, paint and groupset.
The frame was made using Oria Special TC 0.8 tubes. A sturdy CroMo tubing with additional reinforcing ridges on the outside. A frame for a strong rider. Oria tubes became very popular at the end of the 1980s. Their factory in Verona modified Mannesmann steel tubes for Pinarello, Moser, Gios and other manufactures. The last steel bike that won a Tour de France was made of the highly reliable Oria tubing.
Our Oria frame shows nice details. You can see and feel the ribs on the tubes, typical Benotto pantographs are found and even the famous heart shaped cutout in the bottom bracket shell is not missing.
The whole frame is incredibly well preserved and might have not been moved more than 1000 kilometers in its whole life. If you are looking for a late 1980s bike to built, there is no way around this Benotto. Specifications:
